Introduction


Hi everyone! Just a little introductory post to say hi & introduce myself, and to let you know what this site is gonna be all about!

My name is Harley, I’m 31 years old, and I’m from Colchester in England. Been hitting the gym regularly since I was 16, but a few years ago I wondered if it really was necessary to lift heavy weights & eat crazy amounts of meat or fish to build a decent amount of muscle. Well, I can tell you, it isn’t necessary!

I turned vegan 4 years ago, and focused on how I could replace the protein & amino acid content I was supposedly missing when switching to eating only plant based foods. I still managed to build just as much muscle on plants, when following a similar routine.

Then I wondered if I really needed to go to the gym & heave up massive dumbbells most days of the week to build this physique. I gradually switched to more bodyweight or weighted bodyweight exercises, to see what happened, and would you believe it? Still built some really solid muscle. So I jacked in my gym membership 2 years ago and put a very basic (I mean a pull-up bar and weighted vest basic!) set-up in my garage to do my workouts there instead. And well, I’ve been training in there ever since!

In all honesty, you don’t even need any equipment at all to start building muscle – you can quite easily use your own bodyweight to craft a really good physique! All I use is a pull-up bar, a weighted vest, a barbell with some small weight plates you can slide on & off, and mostly my own bodyweight. Which isn’t much at all when you consider how much stuff you’ll be surrounded by at the gym. But bodyweight exercises alone are a great place to get started.

I’m probably going to post all sorts of content on here, but it’ll mostly revolve around workout routines I follow, exercises I do, meals I eat all the time, meal plans I follow. But there’ll be other stuff too, like things I’ve learned recently when working out at home, things I’ve learned since I started training all those years ago, how to save money on food, equipment, and all sorts of other things!

This is just the start of this journey, and I really hope I can help anyone who’s looking to make a change in their fitness journey, build a better physique, improve their diet & lifestyle, and dispel the nonsense that you can’t build muscle as a vegan – all from your own home! I can’t wait to get started…
